{"id":39481,"date":"2011-12-07T09:43:13","date_gmt":"2011-12-07T07:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=39481"},"modified":"2011-12-07T11:00:49","modified_gmt":"2011-12-07T09:00:49","slug":"rim-loses-bbx-trademark-ruling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/39481-rim-loses-bbx-trademark-ruling.html","title":{"rendered":"RIM loses BBX trademark ruling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Basis International\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/387777-Basis-International\">Basis International<\/a> has been granted a temporary restraining order by a federal court in Albuquerque prohibiting <a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342709-BlackBerry\" target=\"_blank\">BlackBerry<\/a> maker <a title=\"Research in Motion (RIM)\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/313525-Research-in-Motion-%28RIM%29\">Research in Motion (RIM)<\/a> from using the term \u201cBBX\u201d to describe its new operating system.<\/p>\n<p>After the case, the court found that \u201cthe BBX mark is identical to the mark which RIM is allegedly using to present its BBX product.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new BBX platform was unveiled by RIM at a company conference in October, and combines elements of the older BlackBerry operating system with the newer QNX software.<\/p>\n<p>RIM representatives could not be reached for comment on the ruling.<\/p>\n<p>Read the full story at: <a title=\"Cnet news site\" href=\"http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-1035_3-57338147-94\/rim-loses-trademark-ruling-over-bbx\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cnet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Update: RIM has announced that the next generation BlackBerry OS will now be known as BlackBerry 10.
