Gates left Microsoft to focus on philanthropic projects in mid 2008, though he retained the position as chairman of the board. He is also the company\u2019s largest shareholder.<\/p>\n<p>One potential reason for a comeback could be <a title=\"Steve Ballmer\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/331356-Steve-Ballmer\">Steve Ballmer<\/a>, the incumbent Microsoft CEO.
