{"id":39841,"date":"2011-12-14T10:11:28","date_gmt":"2011-12-14T08:11:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=39841"},"modified":"2011-12-14T10:13:05","modified_gmt":"2011-12-14T08:13:05","slug":"microsoft-working-on-windows-phone-sms-flaw-fix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/39841-microsoft-working-on-windows-phone-sms-flaw-fix.html","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft working on Windows Phone SMS flaw fix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A bug on <a title=\"Windows\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/360852-Windows\">Windows<\/a> Phones that allows an <a title=\"SMS - Short Message Service\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/289539-SMS-Short-Message-Service\">SMS<\/a> message to disable the messaging app and reboot the phone has been confirmed as legitimate by <a title=\"Microsoft\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/211580-Microsoft\">Microsoft<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft have confirmed that they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a title=\"Greg  Sullivan\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/389583-Greg-Sullivan\">Greg Sullivan<\/a>, senior product manager for the Windows Phone division at Microsoft, &#8220;We are aware of the issue and our engineering teams are examining it now. Once we have more details, we will take appropriate action to help ensure customers are protected.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The method to achieve the exploit was not revealed by <em>WinRumors<\/em> who uncovered the issue, and according to reports it is not security related.
