{"id":40171,"date":"2011-12-21T11:23:11","date_gmt":"2011-12-21T09:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=40171"},"modified":"2011-12-21T11:31:48","modified_gmt":"2011-12-21T09:31:48","slug":"700000-android-devices-activated-every-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/40171-700000-android-devices-activated-every-day.html","title":{"rendered":"700,000 Android devices activated every day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Google\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/314567-Google\">Google<\/a> vice president and chief of <a title=\"Android Mobile Oerating System\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/221979-Google-Android\">Android,<\/a> <a title=\"Andy Rubin\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/364296-Andy-Rubin\">Andy Rubin,<\/a> has announced that more than 700,000 Android devices are being activated each day, continuing the trend of strong growth in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a title=\"Any Rubin Google+ post\" href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/112599748506977857728\/posts\/PLAaEFy1fNa\" target=\"_blank\">post on Google+<\/a> Rubin noted that, \u201cThere are now over 700,000 Android devices activated every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He clarified his original message with another post later in the day, saying, \u201cfor those wondering, we count each device only once (ie, we don&#8217;t count re-sold devices), and &#8216;activations&#8217; means you go into a store, buy a device, put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latest update comes just a single month after Google announced that 550,000 devices were being activated each day.
