Amazon shares were up less than 1% in New York at 9:39 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou will leverage your domain expertise in Blockchain, Distributed Ledger, Central Bank Digital Currencies and Cryptocurrency to develop the case for the capabilities which should be developed,\u201d the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.jobs\/en\/jobs\/1644513\/digital-currency-and-blockchain-product-lead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posting<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0says. \u201cYou will work closely with teams across Amazon including AWS to develop the\u00a0<span id=\"ad2dd41e-ee15-11eb-9ef8-fa163e8986b3\">roadmap<\/span>\u00a0including the customer experience, technical strategy and capabilities as well as the launch strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(AWS, or Amazon\u00a0<span id=\"ad2dd478-ee15-11eb-9ef8-fa163e8986b3\">Web<\/span>\u00a0Services, is the company\u2019s cloud-computing group, which builds software and other technology products for other companies.)<\/p>\n<p>Amazon is a sprawling company that backs a broad range of experiments, meaning initiatives cited in job postings don\u2019t always become new products. But the company confirmed its interest in cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re inspired by the innovation happening in the cryptocurrency space and are exploring what this could look like on Amazon.<\/p>\n<p>We believe the future will be built on new technologies that enable modern, fast and inexpensive payments, and\u00a0<span id=\"ad2dad5e-ee15-11eb-9ef8-fa163e8986b3\">hope<\/span>\u00a0to bring that future to Amazon customers as soon as possible,\u201d the company said in a statement after\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/amazon-cryptocurrency-seeks-new-blockchain-leader-customers-payments-ecommerce-2021-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reporters spotted<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0the posting.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon doesn\u2019t currently let customers pay with any cryptocurrencies.
