{"id":410090,"date":"2021-08-17T07:58:18","date_gmt":"2021-08-17T05:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=410090"},"modified":"2021-08-17T08:01:00","modified_gmt":"2021-08-17T06:01:00","slug":"intel-launching-first-gaming-graphics-cards-in-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/410090-intel-launching-first-gaming-graphics-cards-in-2022.html","title":{"rendered":"Intel launching first gaming graphics cards in 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Intel will take on Nvidia and AMD with its first true dedicated gaming graphics cards in early 2022, the company said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intel.com\/content\/www\/us\/en\/newsroom\/news\/introducing-discrete-graphics-brand-intel-arc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>in a statement on Monday.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It also revealed the name of the upcoming high-performance graphics products would be Intel Arc.<\/p>\n<p>This should not be confused with Intel Ark, the website the company set up to help people come to grips with its confusing product naming regimes.<\/p>\n<p>Intel said the Arc brand will cover hardware, software and services, and will span multiple hardware generations.<\/p>\n<p>The first generation of cards will be based on Intel&#8217;s Xe-HPG microarchitecture and will carry the codename &#8220;Alchemist&#8221;, formerly known as DG2.<\/p>\n<p>These first GPUs will succeed the Xe-based DG1, which was previously provided to system builders for testing and optimisation.<\/p>\n<p>That card featured performance similar to the GDDR5 variant of the low-end GeForce GTX 1030 card.<\/p>\n<p>Intel said the products built on Alchemist chips would be available for desktops and notebooks in the first quarter of 2022.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-410098\" src=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Intel-Arc-new.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Intel-Arc-new.jpg 800w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Intel-Arc-new-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Intel-Arc-new-640x426.jpg 640w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Intel-Arc-new-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Intel&#8217;s entry-level Xe graphics is already available in thin-and-light laptops, but these are primarily geared towards business and professional users.<\/p>\n<p>While Intel did not provide specific details around the performance of the Xe-HPG cards, a trailer accompanying the release confirmed Arc would support the latest graphics features, including real-time ray-tracing and &#8220;AI Accelerated Super Sampling&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Intel also showcased Intel Arc graphics running demanding games like Forza Horizon 4, PlayerUnknown&#8217;s Battlegrounds, Metro: Exodus, and the Crysis Remastered Trilogy.<\/p>\n<p>Intel said it would reveal more specifics about the GPUs later in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Future generations of the Intel Arc will have the codenames &#8220;Battlemage&#8221;, &#8220;Celestial&#8221;, and &#8220;&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3RHYgNQD8-c\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block;
