{"id":413048,"date":"2021-09-08T09:50:38","date_gmt":"2021-09-08T07:50:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=413048"},"modified":"2021-09-08T09:52:14","modified_gmt":"2021-09-08T07:52:14","slug":"twitter-tests-new-soft-block-feature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/413048-twitter-tests-new-soft-block-feature.html","title":{"rendered":"Twitter tests new &#8220;soft block&#8221; feature"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twitter is <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TwitterSupport\/status\/1435323978734841857?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1435323978734841857%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.engadget.com%2Ftwitter-test-remove-followers-without-blocking-210001793.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>testing a new feature<\/strong><\/a> that will allow users to remove their followers without blocking them.<\/p>\n<p>The social media platform said this would make it easier for users to curate their own followers lists.<\/p>\n<p>Removing a follower means your tweets will no longer show up in their feed, and they will stop receiving notifications when you post something.<\/p>\n<p>This should go some way to reducing instances of harassment, trolling, and online abuse on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>The feature is currently only available to select users who access Twitter through the web.<\/p>\n<p>To remove a follower, users can go to their profile, select &#8220;Followers&#8221;, choose the three-dot icon to the right of the follower&#8217;s name, and select &#8220;Remove this follower&#8221;.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We&#8217;re making it easier to be the curator of your own followers list.
