Cell C<\/a> today (19 January 2012) announced that former Vodacom<\/a> CEO Alan Knott-Craig<\/a> will take over as CEO and join the board of directors of Cell C on 1 April 2012.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a break from the telecommunications industry, I am looking forward to being at the helm of Cell C. I am excited about the challenge of making Cell C a more effective competitor to the dominant players,\u201d said Knott-Craig.<\/p>\n

Knott-Craig said that he still has to familiarize himself with the company, and hence could not comment on former CEO Lars Reichelt\u2019s strategy and whether consumers can expect the same from him.<\/p>\n

Knott-Craig did however tell MyBroadband that network quality is his primary concern, and that good pricing is secondary to ensuring that users have a great experience using Cell C\u2019s services. \u201cYou cannot price yourself into the game,\u201d said Knott-Craig.<\/p>\n

The new Cell C CEO added that data will remain a key focus area for Cell C. \u201cData is a sexy product, and you have to make sure you offer the latest technology and products,\u201d said Knott-Craig.<\/p>\n

Knott-Craig did however point out that while data is on top of consumers\u2019 minds, voice revenue is what finances data and will continue to be a key focus area for the company.<\/p>\n
