{"id":417720,"date":"2021-10-11T10:56:08","date_gmt":"2021-10-11T08:56:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=417720"},"modified":"2021-10-11T10:59:38","modified_gmt":"2021-10-11T08:59:38","slug":"big-whatsapp-voice-note-improvements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/417720-big-whatsapp-voice-note-improvements.html","title":{"rendered":"Big WhatsApp voice note improvements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to pause a voice note and resume recording later, <a href=\"https:\/\/wabetainfo.com\/whatsapp-is-working-on-the-ability-to-pause-voice-recordings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>WABetaInfo reports<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The feature is currently under development and expected to roll out first to WhatsApp beta version on Android and iOS in future.<\/p>\n<p>WABetaInfo provided a preview of the feature that includes a video demonstration of its functionality.<\/p>\n<p>It shows the user starting to record a voice note while a stop button is shown at the bottom centre of the screen.<\/p>\n<p>The user then presses the button, and the recording is paused, with the stop button now converted into a record button.<\/p>\n<p>Pressing the button again lets the user continue with the recording.<\/p>\n<p>The feature could be helpful if you are interrupted while trying to record a voice note, or you quickly have to pay attention to something else but don&#8217;t want to start recording the voice note all over again.<\/p>\n<p>The video below illustrates how the feature works.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/84jQ0RLuoMo\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The latest addition is one of several improvements to voice notes that are coming to WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p>An incoming <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/413924-whatsapp-to-let-you-turn-voice-notes-into-text-how-it-will-work.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>transcription feature<\/strong><\/a> on iOS will automatically convert spoken voice into text.<\/p>\n<p>That will allow users to read messages when they are unable to listen in or if they want to take in the content of a long-winded voice note quickly.<\/p>\n<p>The other voice note update is a <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/416780-new-whatsapp-voice-note-feature.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>global voice message player<\/strong><\/a> that lets users continue to listen to a voice note as they navigate through the app and read other conversations.<\/p>\n<p>Both these features are still under development, and it is not clear when they will be available to the public.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Now read: <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/416976-facebooks-six-hour-outage-caused-by-network-configuration-mistake.html\" rel=\"bookmark\">Facebook&#8217;s&#8217;
