{"id":421260,"date":"2021-11-04T08:52:49","date_gmt":"2021-11-04T06:52:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=421260"},"modified":"2021-11-04T08:53:25","modified_gmt":"2021-11-04T06:53:25","slug":"google-to-force-two-factor-authentication-on-users","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/421260-google-to-force-two-factor-authentication-on-users.html","title":{"rendered":"Google to force two-factor authentication on users"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has begun automatically enrolling users for two-factor authentication \u2014 or two-step verification (2SV), as Google terms it \u2014 as part of its plan to make sign-in more secure for all users.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By the end of 2021, we plan to auto-enroll an additional 150 million Google users in 2SV,&#8221; Google said in a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/technology\/safety-security\/making-sign-safer-and-more-convenient\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidpolice.com\/google-is-turning-on-two-step-verification-for-a-lot-of-personal-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Android Police<\/a><\/strong>, Google is keeping true to their word as with less than two months left of 2021, users have reported that they have been auto-enrolled for 2SV.<\/p>\n<p>Two-step verification requires you to use something \u2014 often a generated code or confirmation prompt linked to your device \u2014 in addition to your password to grant access to your account.<\/p>\n<p>More than 150 million accounts are registered with Google.
