Towards the end of last year (2011), a few Cell C<\/a> subscribers started reporting that they were no longer able to roam onto the Vodacom network<\/a> in certain areas.<\/p>\n

Cell C has confirmed that it deactivated roaming on a small cluster of base stations in central Cape Town in October 2011, adding that customers\u2019 handsets would have automatically switched to the Cell C network unless their devices were manually set to search for Vodacom<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Customers should check that their network selection is on auto and not set specifically to any network, Cell C said.<\/p>\n

Users that find themselves able to make calls but unable to use the Internet while roaming on Vodacom should check whether their phones have settings that allow them to disable data traffic while roaming. Cell C said that this needs to be enabled.<\/p>\n

Some MyBroadband members reported not being able to roam on the Vodacom network with their Cell C SIMs in areas other than central Cape Town.<\/p>\n

Cell C said that these issues do not appear to be related to the exercise it conducted in October last year and that it is unaware of related issues in other areas.<\/p>\n

The network operator invited customers who are experiencing any issues to email them at customerservice@cellc.co.za<\/a> or servicedesk@cellc.co.za<\/a>, and provide their MSISDNs (Cell C phone numbers) for further analysis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
