{"id":42417,"date":"2012-02-01T10:02:10","date_gmt":"2012-02-01T08:02:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=42417"},"modified":"2012-02-01T11:03:33","modified_gmt":"2012-02-01T09:03:33","slug":"how-unsafe-is-cellular-radiation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/42417-how-unsafe-is-cellular-radiation.html","title":{"rendered":"How unsafe is cellular radiation?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The debate regarding the potential link between cellphone use and cancer (and other health concerns) is starting to make headlines in South Africa again.<\/p>\n<p>The debate is far from being settled, and a recent <a title=\"World Health Organisation\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/400635-World-Health-Organisation\">World Health Organisation<\/a> study suggests that mobile phone use is possibly carcinogenic (cancer-causing) to humans.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"IARC - International Agency for Research on Cancer\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/400643-IARC-International-Agency-for-Research-on-Cancer\">International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)<\/a>, an arm of the WHO, classified the radiation associated with mobile phone use as <strong>Group 2B<\/strong>: &#8220;possibly carcinogenic to humans&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>But what does Class 2B &#8220;possibly carcinogenic to humans&#8221; really mean.
