{"id":42849,"date":"2012-02-06T11:33:16","date_gmt":"2012-02-06T09:33:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=42849"},"modified":"2012-02-06T11:37:58","modified_gmt":"2012-02-06T09:37:58","slug":"warning-780-new-phishing-programs-detected-daily","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/42849-warning-780-new-phishing-programs-detected-daily.html","title":{"rendered":"Warning: 780 new phishing programs detected daily"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to <a title=\"Kaspersky Lab\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/333634-Kaspersky-Lab\">Kaspersky<\/a> Security Network data, over the last three months Trojan bankers have been detected on an average of 2000 unique users\u2019 computers every day.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, 780 signatures for new malicious programs that target sensitive financial information are added to Kaspersky Lab\u2019s antivirus database on a daily basis \u2013 that is 1.1% of the total number of malware detected every day by the company\u2019s software.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, in January, Kaspersky Lab experts discovered <em>Trojan-Banker.MSIL.MultiPhishing.gen<\/em> which is designed to steal account details from clients of numerous banks, including Santander, HSBC Bank UK, Metro Bank, Bank of Scotland, Lloyds TSB, and Barclays.<\/p>\n<p>After launching, the Trojan waits for an online banking service to start running. It then opens a window that imitates an authorisation form for the respective bank. Interestingly, the Trojan allows no mistakes, checking the accuracy of the data that is entered.<\/p>\n<p>The fraudsters end up obtaining confidential information that gives them full access to the victim\u2019s bank account. It should be noted that the Trojan primarily targets users from the UK, with over 90% of the antivirus detections for this banker being recorded there.<\/p>\n<p>However, Trojan bankers affect just about every corner of the globe.
