{"id":42889,"date":"2012-02-07T09:59:41","date_gmt":"2012-02-07T07:59:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=42889"},"modified":"2012-02-07T12:06:33","modified_gmt":"2012-02-07T10:06:33","slug":"mtn-confirms-new-smartphone-data-bundle-pricing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/42889-mtn-confirms-new-smartphone-data-bundle-pricing.html","title":{"rendered":"MTN confirms new smartphone data bundle pricing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"MTN\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226943-MTN\">MTN<\/a> will launch new smartphone data packages, similar to the popular <a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342709-BlackBerry\">BlackBerry<\/a> Internet Service (BIS) offerings, starting from R25 per month.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Serame Taukobong\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/327180-Serame-Taukobong\">Serame Taukobong<\/a>, MTN South Africa&#8217;s chief marketing officer, confirmed that MTN is launching new Smartphone Services, targeted at entry-level smartphone users.<\/p>\n<p>Taukobong added that MTN Smartphone Services are similar to the Blackberry Internet Service, but aimed at customers using different smartphone handsets.<\/p>\n<p>MTN said that the following Smartphone Services will be available for purchase:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nokia Smartphone Pro Service (R49 per month)<\/strong> \u2013 75MB fair use on <a title=\"Nokia\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/314603-Nokia-Corporation\">Nokia<\/a> Smartphones to access the Nokia Ovi ecosystem (Nokia Messaging, Chat, Navigation and Ovi store). Other internet usage will also deplete the fair use allowance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>MTN Smartphone Pro Service (R49 per month)<\/strong> \u2013 75MB fair use on any Smartphone for e-mail, Instant Messaging and Navigation. Other internet usage will also deplete the fair use allowance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>MTN Social Networking Service (R29 per month)<\/strong> \u2013 75MB fair use to access <a title=\"Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/348566-Facebook\">Facebook<\/a> &amp; <a title=\"MXit\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226948-MXit\">MXit<\/a> (m.facebook.com &amp; m.mxit.com) on any Smartphone, any other social networks will be charged for.<\/li>\n<li><strong>MTN Opera Mini Internet Service (R35 per month)<\/strong> \u2013 75MB fair use on any Smartphone to access the internet using the MTN Branded <a title=\"Opera\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/272103-Opera-Software\">Opera<\/a> Mini browser. Customers need to ensure that they have the MTN Branded Opera Mini browser installed on their device.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;To sweeten your summer an additional <strong>MTN Smartphone Lite Service [priced at R25 per month] <\/strong>will be launched shortly.
