{"id":430766,"date":"2022-01-20T08:51:25","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T06:51:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=430766"},"modified":"2022-01-20T08:56:58","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T06:56:58","slug":"google-killing-free-g-suite-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/it-services\/430766-google-killing-free-g-suite-plan.html","title":{"rendered":"Google killing free G Suite plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google will stop offering its free G Suite plan later this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2022\/01\/19\/g-suite-legacy-free-edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>9to5Google has reported<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The publication has seen an email Google sent to Workspace administrators on Wednesday informing them of the change.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are writing to let you know that your G Suite legacy free edition will no longer be available starting 1 July 2022,&#8221; the email stated.<\/p>\n<p>Google said those who wished to maintain their services and accounts needed to upgrade to Google Workspace.<\/p>\n<p>The standard price of the cheapest plan, <a href=\"https:\/\/workspace.google.com\/intl\/en_za\/pricing.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Workspace Business Starter<\/strong><\/a>, is $6.00 (R92) per month per user.<\/p>\n<p>Google is currently offering all its Workspace packages at a discounted price to new users, with the same entry-level plan priced at $4.80 (R74) for the first 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>Each plan includes 12 Google apps and services, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and Jamboard.<\/p>\n<p>Users who don&#8217;t specify which plan they want to be upgraded to by 1 May 2022 will automatically be transitioned to one of the options based on their usage patterns.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a breakdown of the pricing and features of each plan.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Google-Workspace-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-430770\" src=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Google-Workspace-.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"756\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Google-Workspace-.jpg 756w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Google-Workspace--567x400.jpg 567w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Google-Workspace--610x430.jpg 610w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 756px) 100vw, 756px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Google first introduced Google Apps, which later became G Suite, for businesses and schools in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>The free plan was officially discontinued in 2012 but has remained available to existing users.<\/p>\n<p>It has allowed people to get free Gmail, Docs, Drive, and a range of other apps for their small businesses or private use.
