{"id":436632,"date":"2022-03-08T19:04:58","date_gmt":"2022-03-08T17:04:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=436632"},"modified":"2022-03-08T19:06:59","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T17:06:59","slug":"dstv-getting-a-new-channel-launch-date-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/436632-dstv-getting-a-new-channel-launch-date-announced.html","title":{"rendered":"DStv getting a new channel \u2014 launch date announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MultiChoice and NBCUniversal International Networks &amp; Direct-to-Consumer announced that the DreamWorks channel would launch on DStv channel 304 from 18 March.<\/p>\n<p>The 24-hour channel is dedicated to kids and family entertainment and will be available across DStv\u2019s sub-Saharan region.<\/p>\n<p>In South Africa, DreamWorks will be available to DStv Premium, Compact Plus, and Compact subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>DStv Access and Family customers will enjoy an open window to view the channel on 18 and 19 March.<\/p>\n<p>DreamWorks includes characters and franchises such as All Hail King Julien, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny, Boss Baby: Back in Business, Dragons: Race to the Edge, Dawn of the Croods, Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, and The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants.<\/p>\n<p>The channel also presents a slate of programming for two to five-year-olds, DreamWorks Junior, including Postman Pat, Dragons Rescue Riders, Raa Raa: The Noisy Lion, and Noddy Toyland Detective.<\/p>\n<p>DreamWorks is <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/436024-dstv-getting-three-new-channels.html\"><strong>one of three new channels<\/strong><\/a> MultiChoice promised for DStv at the start of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribers can look forward to a new movie channel later this year, and Family and Access customers will receive the KIX movie channel (DStv 114) from 31 March 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of the new channels came after eMedia revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/435980-dstv-cuts-four-channels.html\"><strong>four of its channels would be dropped from DStv<\/strong><\/a> at the end\u00a0of the month.<\/p>\n<p>Spokespeople for the companies explained that MultiChoice and eMedia had renewed their channel supply agreement.<\/p>\n<p>eMedia said that MultiChoice opted to drop some of its channels, namely eMovies, eMovies Extra, eExtra and eToonz.<\/p>\n<p>DStv will continue broadcasting the news channel eNCA (channel 403), and it will carry E-tv\u2019s daily Afrikaans news bulletin on kykNET (channel 144).<\/p>\n<p>E-tv\u2019s main free-to-air channel is licenced under a separate agreement and would continue to air on DStv.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Now read: <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadband\/436482-dstvs-plan-to-restrict-streaming-to-one-device-may-be-investigated-by-courts-lawyer.html\">DStv\u2019s plan to restrict streaming to one device may be investigated by courts \u2014 lawyer<\/a><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MultiChoice has announced the launch date of a new channel on its DStv pay TV platform.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":23,"featured_media":397929,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[24],"tags":[11955,85,35,475,47934],"class_list":["post-436632","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-broadcasting","tag-dreamworks","tag-dstv","tag-headline","tag-multichoice","tag-nbcuniversal"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/436632"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/23"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=436632"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/436632\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/397929"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=436632"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=436632"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=436632"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
