{"id":437132,"date":"2022-03-25T11:04:06","date_gmt":"2022-03-25T09:04:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=437132"},"modified":"2022-03-25T11:48:17","modified_gmt":"2022-03-25T09:48:17","slug":"internet-in-the-bush","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/437132-internet-in-the-bush.html","title":{"rendered":"Internet in the bush"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Game drive streaming service <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.painteddog.tv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Painted Dog TV<\/a><\/strong> has built its own wireless network in the Balule Nature Reserve in the iconic Greater Kruger National Park.<\/p>\n<p>Painted Dog TV is one of\u00a0several game drive streaming broadcasters operating in South Africa, and they all require an Internet connection to provide their services.<\/p>\n<p>South African investigative news programme Carte Blanche <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=i3o4vh6IQhI&amp;t=118s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently featured<\/a><\/strong> the conservation-driven virtual safari provider in a recent episode.<\/p>\n<p>Carte Blanche journalist and producer Sasha Schwendenwein <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capetalk.co.za\/podcasts\/127\/lunch-with-pippa-hudson\/604062\/on-the-couch-with-carte-blanche-painted-dog-tv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoke<\/a><\/strong> to Cape Talk&#8217;s Pippa Hudson and gave a summary of Painted Dog&#8217;s network.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that Painted Dog TV&#8217;s CTO Wium Dornbrack had developed a system to create an Internet network in the bush.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He created something that he&#8217;s named the &#8216;treepeater&#8217;, which is basically an Internet repeater, that has little towers that go all the way from Hoedspruit to Painted Dog,&#8221; Schwendenwein said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These little things are in the trees. No animals can see them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Painted-Dog-TV-treepeater-scaled-e1648201432416.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-438810\" src=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Painted-Dog-TV-treepeater-scaled-e1648201432416.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"538\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At the same time that sends the Internet signal to the vehicles, and I promise you I had better signal out there than I do in Johannesburg,&#8221;
