{"id":44133,"date":"2012-02-24T09:40:26","date_gmt":"2012-02-24T07:40:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=44133"},"modified":"2012-02-24T09:46:30","modified_gmt":"2012-02-24T07:46:30","slug":"ipad-3-screen-more-details","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/44133-ipad-3-screen-more-details.html","title":{"rendered":"iPad 3 screen, more details"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The next generation iPad has been rumoured to feature a 2048 x 536 resolution screen, and new details have emerged that lend weight to the speculation.<\/p>\n<p>News site <em>MacRumors<\/em> posted photos which included microscope-enlarged shots of a panel that it claimed would feature in the <a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342717-Apple-inc\">Apple<\/a> iPad 3. This panel has now been turned over to iFixit, a site known for posting detailed tear-downs of gadgets and identifying individual components in them.<\/p>\n<p><em>iFixit<\/em> analysed the screen in more depth, and has posted clearer images that indicate the panel does in fact support a 2048 x 1536 resolution.<\/p>\n<p>The site also laid out the panel next to a panel from an iPad 2, pointing out differences in the connectivity options. iFixit also noted that the new display was 0.6 ounces (17 grams) lighter than the iPad 2 display panel.<\/p>\n<p>iFixit did not manage to get the display working with an iPad 2, due to the difference in connector types used.
