{"id":450318,"date":"2022-06-27T11:45:02","date_gmt":"2022-06-27T09:45:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=450318"},"modified":"2022-06-27T11:45:36","modified_gmt":"2022-06-27T09:45:36","slug":"microsoft-dropping-support-for-exchange-server-2013-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/450318-microsoft-dropping-support-for-exchange-server-2013-next-year.html","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft dropping support for Exchange Server 2013 next year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/techcommunity.microsoft.com\/t5\/exchange-team-blog\/exchange-server-2013-end-of-support-reminder\/ba-p\/3549596\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reminded<\/a><\/strong> users that Exchange Server 2013 will reach its end of support on 11 April 2023.<\/p>\n<p>This is just over ten years since its launch on 9 January 2013, which aligns with Microsoft\u2019s typical 10-year support lifecycle for its products.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses use Microsoft Exchange Server on Windows Server operating system to access email, calendar, collaboration, and scheduling functionality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExchange Server 2013 will continue to run after this date, of course; however, due to the risks listed above, we strongly recommend that you migrate from Exchange Server 2013 as soon as possible,\u201d Microsoft Exchange product manager Scott Schnoll said.<\/p>\n<p>After 11 April 2023, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support, bug fixes, security patches, and time zone updates for Exchange Server 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Schnoll <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/enterprise\/exchange-2013-end-of-support?view=o365-worldwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advised<\/a><\/strong> users to upgrade to Exchange Server 2019 or migrate to Exchange Online.<\/p>\n<p>Some users migrating to Exchange Online might be eligible for Microsoft\u2019s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-za\/fasttrack?rtc=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FastTrack<\/a><\/strong> service.<\/p>\n<p>FastTrack lets users access a support engineer to guide them regarding best practices, tools, and resources.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft Exchange is a frequent target of attackers.
