{"id":45335,"date":"2012-03-09T09:42:13","date_gmt":"2012-03-09T07:42:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=45335"},"modified":"2012-03-09T09:43:26","modified_gmt":"2012-03-09T07:43:26","slug":"google-chrome-suffers-major-exploit-at-pwnium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/45335-google-chrome-suffers-major-exploit-at-pwnium.html","title":{"rendered":"Google Chrome suffers major exploit at Pwnium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It took just five minutes for a Russian university student to hack into a secure Windows 7 machine using a remote code execution exploit in <a title=\"Google\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/314567-Google\">Google\u2019s<\/a> Chrome web browser.<\/p>\n<p>Sergey Glazunov demonstrated the exploit at the Pwnium hacker contest, and won $60,000 for his efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Google has offered a total of $1 million in prize money to hackers who can exploit the company\u2019s <a title=\"Chrome\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/368084-Chrome\">Chrome<\/a> web browser.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the exploit, a member of the Chrome security team Justin Schuh said, \u201cIt didn\u2019t break out of the sandbox [but] it avoided the sandbox. It was an impressive exploit. It required a deep understanding of how Chrome works.
