{"id":454002,"date":"2022-07-26T11:38:53","date_gmt":"2022-07-26T09:38:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=454002"},"modified":"2022-07-26T11:40:51","modified_gmt":"2022-07-26T09:40:51","slug":"microsoft-issues-urgent-fix-for-windows-11-start-menu-bug","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/454002-microsoft-issues-urgent-fix-for-windows-11-start-menu-bug.html","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft issues urgent fix for Windows 11 start menu bug"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has fixed a bug in its Windows 11 start menu that was causing it to malfunction on devices running version 21H2.<\/p>\n<p>Bleeping Computer <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/news\/microsoft\/microsoft-issues-emergency-fix-for-broken-windows-11-start-menu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a><\/strong> that Microsoft had addressed the issue after acknowledging it on Friday, 22 July.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A small number of devices are unable to open the Start menu after installing updates released June 23, 2022 or later,&#8221; Microsoft said in an update on the Windows health dashboard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After installing KB5014668 or later updates, we have received reports that a small number of devices might be unable to open the Start menu.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Clicking the start menu icon or hitting the Windows key on affected devices would often have no effect.<\/p>\n<p>The fix leverages Windows&#8217; Known Issue Rollback (KIR) function, which can revert problematic non-security-related fixes through Windows Update.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bleeping Computer, the fix will likely make its way to consumer and non-managed business computers within one day.
