Ubuntu developers released a patch for a core component, systemd, morning that caused problems for servers hosted in Microsoft\u2019s Azure cloud platform on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
The issue was reported<\/a><\/strong> by South African Ubuntu user \u201cPieter\u201d (a.k.a. \u201cdiepes\u201d) just before 07:00 on Tuesday.<\/p>\n According to the report, the systemd\u2019s update to version 237\u20133ubuntu10.54 broke Domain Name System (DNS) functionality, causing connectivity problems for Azure virtual machines.<\/p>\n Microsoft confirmed<\/a><\/strong> the issue, stating that reports are confined to Ubuntu 18.04 servers.<\/p>\n Although Ubuntu 18.04 is an older version of the popular Linux-based operating system, it enjoys Long Term Support (LTS) status.<\/p>\n Canonical\u2019s standard support window<\/a><\/strong> for Ubuntu 18.04 ends in April 2023.
