{"id":460301,"date":"2022-09-12T18:18:08","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T16:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=460301"},"modified":"2022-09-12T18:21:11","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T16:21:11","slug":"rain-outsourcing-call-centre-to-india-based-multinational","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/460301-rain-outsourcing-call-centre-to-india-based-multinational.html","title":{"rendered":"Rain outsourcing call centre to India-based multinational"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rain has appointed Wipro as its customer support service provider and will outsource its call centre operations to the company from 1 November 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Call centre agents that Rain employs directly will be transferred to Wipro.<\/p>\n<p>Wipro is a New York Stock Exchange-listed company headquartered in Bangalore, India.<\/p>\n<p>Rain currently employs 150 people in Bryanston and 300 spread between offices in Johannesburg and Durban.<\/p>\n<p>MyBroadband learned of the company\u2019s plans when several concerned staff members contacted us to express fears about the change.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on condition of anonymity, the staff members said Rain operations chief Conrad Leigh informed them on Tuesday, 6 September that the call centre is being outsourced.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the employees said they hadn\u2019t received documentation to explain what was happening and feared losing their jobs or having their salaries cut.<\/p>\n<p>Even if they kept their jobs for now, the staff were worried that Wipro would eventually lay them off.<\/p>\n<p>Rain has assured that these fears are unwarranted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team will continue to be based here in South Africa.
