{"id":460736,"date":"2022-09-15T13:25:07","date_gmt":"2022-09-15T11:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=460736"},"modified":"2022-09-15T13:27:06","modified_gmt":"2022-09-15T11:27:06","slug":"google-rolls-out-device-specific-play-store-reviews","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/460736-google-rolls-out-device-specific-play-store-reviews.html","title":{"rendered":"Google rolls out device-specific Play Store reviews"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google is rolling out a new Play Store feature that will only show users app ratings and reviews relevant to the type of device they&#8217;re using, The Verge <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/9\/14\/23353784\/google-play-store-device-type-specific-reviews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The reviews section of the Play Store now displays a notice specifying that the reviews for an app are verified and are from people using the same type of device as you.<\/p>\n<p>Device types will include phone, tablet, foldable, Chromebook, smartwatch, and auto interfaces.<\/p>\n<p>The Verge confirmed that the Play Store showed a user looking at reviews on a foldable device a different set than one viewing them on a smartphone.<\/p>\n<p>Google first <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/smartphones\/410968-google-play-store-app-ratings-will-change-based-on-your-location.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced the plan to roll out device-specific reviews<\/a><\/strong> in its Play Store in August 2021 and has now enabled the feature as the company gets ready to launch its own tablet and wearable.<\/p>\n<p>There are also rumours that Google intends to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/460217-android-13-code-reveals-google-pixel-foldable-and-pro-tablet-could-be-on-the-way.html\">launch a foldable device<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_460742\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Google-Play-Store-about-reviews.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-460742\" class=\"size-full wp-image-460742\" src=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Google-Play-Store-about-reviews.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Google-Play-Store-about-reviews.jpg 800w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Google-Play-Store-about-reviews-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Google-Play-Store-about-reviews-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-460742\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tapping on the notice provides more details on how reviews and ratings work<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;This will give users a better impression of the experience they can expect for the device they&#8217;re using,&#8221;
