From August 24 at 19:00, DStv viewers with HD decoders and television sets will be able to enjoy M-Net HD, a new channel on DStv using High Definition (HD) broadcast technology 
 
M-Net HD, which will be found on DStv Channel 170, promises superior image and colour quality in widescreen format.
 
M-Net’s Director of Channels, Jan du Plessis, says M-Net is proud to be at the forefront of this new development in broadcast technology. <\/p>\n

“M-Net HD, the continent’s first packaged high definition channel, will brim with top programming, acquired or produced by M-Net in this revolutionary new format. M-Net HD viewers will see all their favourite shows and movies, but in mind-blowing resolution!”<\/p>\n

M-Net HD programming<\/strong>
 
Even though most of the programming on the schedule will be international series and movies, M-Net recently recorded local series in high definition in its new HD studio.<\/p>\n

M-Net HD will contain a variety of programming from different M-Net channels such as M-Net, GO, M-Net Series, M-Net Action and M-Net Movies.<\/p>\n

While some shows on M-Net HD will simulcast with other M-Net channels, channel 170 will also have exclusive material as well as HD versions of shows that have recently been broadcast on M-Net or its channels.
 
The channel will be a mix of series, movies, sporting action and once-off specials, such as music concerts. Some of the programming – mainly movies, series and specials – will be available in surround sound.
 
Simulcasts with M-Net channels in August and September:<\/p>\n

    The local game show, Power of 10, M-Net HD’s first local series, will be available on Sundays at 18:00 (simulcast with M-Net, starting 27 August) <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n
    Season 6 of the forensic drama CSI Miami will be screened on Tuesdays at 20:30 (simulcast with M-Net, starting 26 August) <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n
    CSI New York Season 4 will show on Thursdays at 21:30 (simulcast with M-Net, starting 28 August) <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \n
    Gossip Girl will be broadcast on Wednesdays at 18:30 (simulcast with GO, starting 3 September) <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  5. \n
    Moonlight will be on M-Net HD on Fridays at 20:00 (simulcast with M-Net Action from episode 2 on 29 August) <\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Season 3 of My Name Is Earl (Season 3) will be available in HD format from 25 August on Mondays at 19:00. <\/div>\n<\/li>\n

      Samantha Who (Season 1) will broadcast on Tuesdays at 19:00 from 26 August<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

      Lost (Season 4) will be broadcast on M-Net HD from 26 August on Tuesdays at 21:30. <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    4. \n
      Reaper will show on Thursdays at 20:30, starting 28 January. <\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      M-Net HD will have a variety of movies with high definition image quality. Among the titles that will be on the channel soon are Die Hard 4, Zodiac, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Spiderman, Oceans Thirteen and, Shrek the Third.
       
      Sport fans can look forward to Premiere League Soccer on the weekends as well as at least one local SuperSport game per week.<\/p>\n
