{"id":465439,"date":"2022-10-20T14:27:30","date_gmt":"2022-10-20T12:27:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=465439"},"modified":"2022-10-20T14:29:30","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T12:29:30","slug":"microsoft-server-configuration-error-exposes-customer-names-emails-and-phone-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/465439-microsoft-server-configuration-error-exposes-customer-names-emails-and-phone-numbers.html","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft server configuration error exposes customer names, emails, and phone numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/msrc-blog.microsoft.com\/2022\/10\/19\/investigation-regarding-misconfigured-microsoft-storage-location-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed<\/a><\/strong> that some of its customers&#8217; personal information has been exposed by an unintentionally misconfigured server that allowed unauthenticated access to business transaction data.<\/p>\n<p>The tech giant confirmed that it secured the server after cybersecurity researchers at SOCRadar notified it of the leak on 24 September 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft explained that the flaw made it possible to gain unauthenticated access to business transaction data relating to interactions between the company and potential customers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our investigation found no indication customer accounts or systems were compromised.
