{"id":470357,"date":"2022-11-22T19:33:41","date_gmt":"2022-11-22T17:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=470357"},"modified":"2022-11-22T19:35:33","modified_gmt":"2022-11-22T17:35:33","slug":"mtn-explains-8-hour-data-network-outage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/470357-mtn-explains-8-hour-data-network-outage.html","title":{"rendered":"MTN explains 8-hour data network outage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MTN says that a fault developed on its network after an upgrade, causing intermittent outages for data customers on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing an upgrade on a part of the MTN network last night, a fault developed this morning, resulting in some intermittent connectivity issues today,\u201d MTN <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MTNza\/status\/1595087304590299140\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fault has been repaired and MTN apologises to any customers that may have been inconvenienced by this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From around 07:00 on 22 November, MTN subscribers started reporting that they could not access the Internet on the operator\u2019s mobile and fixed-LTE networks.<\/p>\n<p>Real-time problem and outage monitoring site Downdetector showed<br \/>\nelevated levels of complaints until around 15:00.<\/p>\n<p>Problem reports dropped off sharply from 15:15 and remained relatively high at 19:00.<\/p>\n<p>Some ongoing complaints include customers who use MVNO services on MTN\u2019s network, like Afrihost Air Mobile and Axxess.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny update on hosted LTE networks e.g. Afrihost? Still NO network in my area,\u201d another Twitter user <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/djselwynb\/status\/1595102517347905536\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLiterally lost business during this outage!
