{"id":470377,"date":"2022-11-23T08:58:19","date_gmt":"2022-11-23T06:58:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=470377"},"modified":"2022-11-23T10:57:31","modified_gmt":"2022-11-23T08:57:31","slug":"mtn-network-problems-continue-into-second-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/470377-mtn-network-problems-continue-into-second-day.html","title":{"rendered":"MTN network problems continue into second day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several MTN customers have continued to report issues with their Internet connectivity for a second day following an upgrade-induced fault on the operator&#8217;s network.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/470205-big-mtn-data-outage.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Scores of customers reported<\/strong><\/a> that they could not use mobile data or had intermittent connectivity for eight hours on Tuesday, 22 November 2022.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/470357-mtn-explains-8-hour-data-network-outage.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>statement in the evening<\/strong><\/a>, the company explained the issue occurred after an upgrade on a part of its network.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The fault has been repaired and MTN apologises to any customers that may have been inconvenienced by this matter,&#8221; MTN said.<\/p>\n<p>However, from around 07:00 AM on Wednesday, 23 November 2022, it appeared that pockets of MTN users were still having problems.<\/p>\n<p>After a rapid decline in reports on Downdetector by Tuesday evening, there was <a href=\"https:\/\/downdetector.co.za\/status\/mtn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>a slight uptick<\/strong><\/a> from just after 05:00 AM on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the reports were flagged with &#8220;Mobile Internet&#8221; being the problem, followed by &#8220;No Signal&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The screenshot below shows reports of problems with MTN services on Downdetector over the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/MTN-outage-on-Downdetector-Day-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-470389\" src=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/MTN-outage-on-Downdetector-Day-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"471\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/MTN-outage-on-Downdetector-Day-2.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/MTN-outage-on-Downdetector-Day-2-600x236.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/MTN-outage-on-Downdetector-Day-2-800x314.jpg 800w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/MTN-outage-on-Downdetector-Day-2-768x301.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A quick test by MyBroadband showed intermittent or slow connectivity on an Afrihost Fixed-LTE connection running on MTN&#8217;s network in Centurion.<\/p>\n<p>Several other MyBroadband readers using MTN mobile broadband products as their primary home connections reported they had no connectivity whatsoever.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter also showed several complaints from MTN mobile and fixed-LTE customers in several parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"entry-title\">&#8220;My phone says I have data [signal] but nothing is working,&#8221; one user stated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Your mobile network is still not working properly\u2026 needing to rely on Wi-Fi just to be able to let you know this,&#8221; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SimonWPalmer\/status\/1595292431423094784\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a second said<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My network is still down. When will this be completely fixed?
