screens,&#8221; MultiChoice said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Disney+ includes a wide range of feature-length films, documentaries, live-action and animated series, and short-form content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.<\/p>\n<p>It also boasts movies and TV shows from Disney&#8217;s Star brand, which includes productions by 20th Century Studios, Disney Television Studios, FX, and Searchlight Pictures.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/461526-dstv-streama-launch-date-and-price-announced.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Launched at the start of October 2022<\/strong><\/a>, the DStv Streama is a smart TV box that connects to the Internet, similar to the myriad Android TV boxes on the market and Apple TV.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of the Android TV or tvOS operating systems, it runs on the open-source RDK platform.<\/p>\n<p>It lets DStv subscribers stream their chosen channel package and content and access several third-party streaming apps.<\/p>\n<p>The introduction of Disney+ came after confusion over the <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/463419-dstv-streama-missing-disney-at-launch-but-multichoice-promises-its-coming-soon.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>app&#8217;s absence from the Streama<\/strong><\/a> when it launched.<\/p>\n<p>MultiChoice&#8217;s original physical and online marketing material for the DStv Streama showed that it would support Disney+ alongside several other third-party streaming apps.<\/p>\n<p>Demo devices seen by MyBroadband during the company&#8217;s multimedia showcase also had the Disney+ app available.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_463097\" style=\"width: 2570px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/20220922_125212-1-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-463097\" class=\"wp-image-463097 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/20220922_125212-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1920\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/20220922_125212-1-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/20220922_125212-1-533x400.jpg 533w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/20220922_125212-1-711x533.jpg 711w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/20220922_125212-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/20220922_125212-1-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/20220922_125212-1-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/20220922_125212-1-1200x900.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-463097\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">DStv Streama interface shown at MultiChoice&#8217;s 2022 Multimedia Showcase<\/p><\/div>\n<p>However, when the Streama launched, we soon discovered that Disney+ was absent from the Apps section on the device we bought.<\/p>\n<p>We found the omission curious, particularly given that DStv had entered into a partnership with Walt Disney Africa to make Disney+ available on the Explora Ultra and let DStv customers add a subscription to the service on their bills at a discount.<\/p>\n<p>MyBroadband asked MultiChoice why Disney+ was unavailable on the DStv Streama at launch.<\/p>\n<p>MultiChoice said it would onboard the Disney+ app to the Streama &#8220;as soon as possible&#8221;
