Steve Jobs<\/a> didn\u2019t hate Android<\/a> as much as his public stance lead consumers to believe.<\/p>\n

This is according to Google<\/a> CEO Larry Page<\/a>, who says that Jobs\u2019 much publicised vow to spend his dying breath and all of Apple\u2019s cash to destroy Android was for show.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Bloomberg, Page said, \u201cThe Android differences were actually for show. For a lot of companies, it\u2019s useful for them to feel like they have an obvious competitor and to rally around that. I personally believe that it\u2019s better to shoot higher. You don\u2019t want to be looking at your competitors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Page also dismissed the suggestion that he and Jobs were bitter rivals. \u201cI had a relationship with Steve,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Jobs apparently reached out to the Google CEO in the last few months of his life. \u201cHe was quite sick. I took it as an honour that he wanted to spend some time with me,\u201d Page said. \u201cI figured he wanted to spend time with his family at that point. He had a lot of interesting insights about how to run a company and that was pretty much what we discussed.\u201d<\/p>\n
