{"id":473889,"date":"2022-12-13T07:22:33","date_gmt":"2022-12-13T05:22:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=473889"},"modified":"2022-12-13T10:51:22","modified_gmt":"2022-12-13T08:51:22","slug":"twitter-blue-is-back-with-three-different-coloured-checkmarks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/473889-twitter-blue-is-back-with-three-different-coloured-checkmarks.html","title":{"rendered":"Twitter Blue is back \u2014 with three different coloured checkmarks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twitter Inc. resumed selling its Twitter Blue premium offering, which gives users a blue verification badge by their names, following a weeks-long pause because some subscribers were using the paid service to impersonate well-known accounts.<\/p>\n<p>After several postponements, the social network said in a\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/en_us\/topics\/product\/2022\/twitter-blue-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog post<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0that Twitter Blue is available now.<\/p>\n<p>Users who pay $8 a month will receive a checkmark in a blue badge next to their profile pictures and will be able to edit tweets, among other perks.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter said it will take \u201ca number of other steps to detect and prevent impersonation,\u201d including a requirement that users have a valid phone number attached to their account.<\/p>\n<p>Users who change their user name or photo will also lose their checkmark \u201cuntil those changes are reviewed by Twitter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccounts found to be breaking our rules may be suspended without a refund,\u201d the blog reads.<\/p>\n<p>Before billionaire Elon Musk took the company private in late October, Twitter verified accounts with a blue badge as a way to distinguish prominent users, or those at risk of being impersonated, including celebrities, musicians and journalists.<\/p>\n<p>But the process of getting verified was also unclear, and Musk has criticized it as a \u201clords &amp; peasants system.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"news-social-embedded\" data-social-media-type=\"twitter\" data-original-url=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/statuses\/1602466059579232257\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Basic Blue will have half the number of ads.
