{"id":477449,"date":"2023-01-24T09:52:12","date_gmt":"2023-01-24T07:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=477449"},"modified":"2023-01-24T09:56:06","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T07:56:06","slug":"facebook-adding-customisation-to-encrypted-messenger-chats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/477449-facebook-adding-customisation-to-encrypted-messenger-chats.html","title":{"rendered":"Facebook adding customisation to encrypted Messenger chats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook) is expanding the features available in its end-to-end encrypted (E2EE) chats in Messenger to include customisation preferences, the company announced in a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2023\/01\/expanding-features-for-end-to-end-encryption-on-messenger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog post<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Messenger users will be able to set themes, send emojis and reactions, and incorporate group profile photos in their encrypted conversations.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, starting, opening, or switching over to an encrypted chat would remove all customisation and leave users chatting against a plain white background.<\/p>\n<p>Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/zuck\/posts\/pfbid02w7TZNUhn5pxSRCJ8bVgJ2Csoo9L83k77GnVrVawpzRhnEaUmj3ThpiNRqZzkSamNl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">took to Facebook<\/a><\/strong> to announce the update.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Launching more features for end-to-end encrypted chats for Messenger today \u2014 link previews, custom emojis, themes, etc.,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re ramping up testing default end-to-end encryption for more people in Messenger too.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Messenger users on Android can also use the &#8220;bubbles&#8221; feature for E2EE chats, giving them quick access to active conversations when they&#8217;re in other apps.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that, unlike WhatsApp, E2EE chats aren&#8217;t enabled by default in Messenger.
