Fake Instagram infects Android devices with malware"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IT security and data protection company, <a title=\"Sophos security\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1881-Sophos\">Sophos<\/a>, is warning <a title=\"Android Mobile Oerating System\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/221979-Google-Android\">Android<\/a> users about malware being distributed disguised as the popular photo-sharing app, <a title=\"Instagram\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/412033-Instagram\">Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cyber criminals have created fake versions of the Instagram Android app, which is designed to earn money from unsuspecting users, and have played on the popularity of the application.<\/p>\n<p>Recently acquired by <a title=\"Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/348566-Facebook\">Facebook<\/a> for $1-billion, Instagram has millions of users around the world.<\/p>\n<p>If Android owners download the app from unapproved sources, rather than official sites such as the official <a title=\"Google\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/314567-Google\">Google<\/a> Play Android marketplace, they run the risk of infecting their smartphone.
