{"id":484433,"date":"2023-03-18T16:15:47","date_gmt":"2023-03-18T14:15:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=484433"},"modified":"2023-03-19T06:44:10","modified_gmt":"2023-03-19T04:44:10","slug":"eskom-changes-long-weekend-load-shedding-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/energy\/484433-eskom-changes-long-weekend-load-shedding-plan.html","title":{"rendered":"Eskom drops load-shedding stage for Saturday night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eskom has announced it will implement stage 1 load-shedding on Saturday from 16:00 until 05:00 on Sunday, instead of stage 2.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/energy\/484385-good-news-for-long-weekend-load-shedding-here-is-the-new-timetable.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>utility&#8217;s original plan<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to rotate between stage 1 and stage 2 for the rest of the weekend and the first two days of the coming week, with two 11-hour suspensions of the power cuts on Sunday and Tuesday, remains as is.<\/p>\n<p>It did not provide any explanation for the change in plan on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom&#8217;s most recent evening peak statistics \u2014 for Friday, 17 March 2023 \u2014 showed it had total demand of 27,432MW at peak.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, it had 28,530MW of generation capacity available, an excess of 1,098MW.<\/p>\n<p>However, because the utility was load-shedding around 1,834MW of electricity, it only sent out 25,598MW at peak.<\/p>\n<p>It did not have to run any of its own or IPP open-cycle gas turbines.<\/p>\n<p>The table below shows Eskom&#8217;s planned load-shedding implementation for the coming days.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mybb_table\">\n<div class=\"table-responsive\"><table class=\"table\" style=\"width: 100%;\" cellpadding=\"7\">\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th style=\"text-align: center;
