href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/289151-Wi-Fi\">Wi-Fi<\/a> + 4G\u201d iPad model in South Africa if that is exactly what it offers, said MD of <a title=\"World Wide Worx\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/307751-World-Wide-Worx\">World Wide Worx<\/a>, <a title=\"Arthur Goldstuck\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/221541-Arthur-Goldstuck\">Arthur Goldstuck<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Core Group\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/306215-Core-Group\">Core Group<\/a>, the official distributors of <a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342717-Apple-inc\">Apple<\/a> products in South Africa, have specifically announced that South African customers won\u2019t be able to access 4G in South Africa, Goldstuck said.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the previous iterations of Apple\u2019s popular tablet PC, the iPad 3 comes in versions that support <a title=\"Long term Evolution (LTE)\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/367212-Long-term-Evolution-(LTE)\">Long Term Evolution (LTE)<\/a>, a high speed mobile broadband technology.<\/p>\n<p>In its announcement of the recommended retail pricing in SA, Core said that \u201c4G LTE\u201d isn\u2019t available in South Africa yet, but that the new iPad would work on 3G networks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo there can also be no accusations of them offering something dishonestly,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_31084\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Arthur Goldstuck - World Wide Worx<\/p><\/div>\n<p>However, Goldstuck also believes that it would be advisable for them to put a sticker on each box warning that the 4G devices will only be able to access 3G networks in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Considering the punishment Cell C took over its use of the term \u201c4Gs\u201d to market its new <a title=\"HSPA+\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/230377-hspa\">HSPA+<\/a> mobile network that ran in the 900MHz band, we asked Goldstuck whether there\u2019s an <a title=\"Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) \" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/306365-ASA-Advertising-Standards-Authority\">Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) <\/a>complaint in Core\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf a single customer buys the device from an official reseller having been led to believe that it will allow access to a local 4G network, it will be grounds for a Consumer Commission complaint,\u201d Goldstuck explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis means that, more than ever before, Core are going to have to monitor and manage the way the iPad is sold,\u201d said Goldstuck. \u201cThey do seem to be aware of the potential danger, going by their pricing announcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although the ASA have effectively disallowed HSPA+ networks from being marketed as \u201c4G\u201d in South Africa, it remains to be seen whether the marketing industry\u2019s self-regulating body will let LTE be termed \u201c4G\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"International Telecommunications Union (ITU)\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/289493-ITU-International-Telecommunications-Union\">International Telecommunications Union (ITU)<\/a> said that
