The FTTH<\/a> Council Africa has expanded its board of directors to include Zellah Fuphe<\/a>, from Plessey<\/a>; Brandon Doyle<\/a>, of Convergence Partners<\/a>; Alfie Martin, from Zhone Technologies; and Johan Kleynhans<\/a>, from MCT.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe continued growth of the industry and the consistent growth of the FTTH Council Africa has resulted in us reviewing how we, as an industry organisation can best support the interests of our members. With that in mind we embarked on the search to expand our existing board of Directors.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe board selection process resulted in a shortlist of 10 nominees and would like to congratulate them all on their nominations,\u201d said Richard Came<\/a>, president FTTH Council Africa.<\/p>\n

CEO, Juanita Clark<\/a>, noted that the FTTH Council Africa has grown to thirty members since its foundation 18 months ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cFibre deployments are critical component of broadband penetration, and the new board is representative from all facets of the industry, which allows for diverse inputs \u2013 this is extremely important as one has to have a high level view and understand all the aspects of this growing industry to adequately represent it\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is clear that much work needs to be done to remove the current layers of bureaucracy, which are holding back wide-scale deployment of vital infrastructure\u201d, said Brandon Doyle, CEO of Convergence Partners, the investment company that is involved, inter alia, in the Seacom<\/a> undersea fibre system, and more recently, the FibreCo<\/a> longhaul network in South Africa.<\/p>\n

Zellah Fuphe, managing executive for Plessey Broadband Investments, will also be representing the FTTH Council Africa at the Global Alliance Group meeting that will be taking place in Shanghai in May 2012.<\/p>\n

During this meeting all five global Councils meet to look at how they can support each other and closer co-operation between the international lobby groups at a global level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
