{"id":491297,"date":"2023-05-11T18:41:21","date_gmt":"2023-05-11T16:41:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=491297"},"modified":"2023-05-11T18:44:20","modified_gmt":"2023-05-11T16:44:20","slug":"seacom-hit-by-cyber-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cloud-hosting\/491297-seacom-hit-by-cyber-attack.html","title":{"rendered":"Seacom hit by cyber attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two separate Seacom business customers have told MyBroadband that their services have been offline since Wednesday morning without any communication from the company.<\/p>\n<p>MyBroadband contacted Seacom for comment, after which it issued a statement confirming a \u201ccyber security incident\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Seacom said the incident was contained to its hosting environment and impacted a small number of customers.<\/p>\n<p>The company said all were personally notified and are being kept abreast of recovery plans.<\/p>\n<p>However, one customer told MyBroadband that Seacom didn\u2019t tell them anything until late Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, they said, \u201c[It\u2019s] been down since yesterday morning. No news, no Twitter, zero updates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They said they exhausted all avenues to get information out of the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeacom\u2019s COO isn\u2019t available, and their customer operations head isn\u2019t answering his phone.
