Intel and Yahoo! today announced plans to make it possible for users to access the Internet through their televisions. What Intel is calling "Widget Channel" will be optimised for the company’s CE 3100 media processor and will allow users access to Internet widgets based on a number of Yahoo products such as Yahoo Finance and Yahoo Sports.<\/p>\n
The Widget Channel will allow consumers to enjoy rich Internet applications designed for the TV while watching their favorite TV programmes.<\/p>\n
The Widget Channel platform will also allow developers to use Javascript, XML, HTML and Adobe Flash technology to write TV applications for the platform.<\/p>\n
Using the TV Widgets platform, users will be able to do things such as watch videos, track their favourite sports and the markets on their television.<\/p>\n
"TV will fundamentally change how we talk about, imagine and experience the Internet," said Eric Kim, Intel senior vice president and general manager of the company’s Digital Home Group. <\/p>\n
