{"id":49199,"date":"2012-05-04T08:41:07","date_gmt":"2012-05-04T06:41:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=49199"},"modified":"2012-05-07T09:55:20","modified_gmt":"2012-05-07T07:55:20","slug":"arm-mobile-chip-hits-3-1ghz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/49199-arm-mobile-chip-hits-3-1ghz.html","title":{"rendered":"ARM mobile chip hits 3.1GHz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"TSMC - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/428833-TSMC-Taiwan-Semiconductor-Manufacturing-Company\">Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC)<\/a> has taken a dual-core <a title=\"ARM Holdings\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/360516-ARM-architecture\">ARM<\/a> A9 mobile processor all the way up to 3.1GHz, the company announced.<\/p>\n<p>The chip, based on the 28 nanometre manufacturing process, typically runs at speeds of around 1.2GHz in modern mobile smartphones.<\/p>\n<p>TSMC also noted that the chip achieved this frequency \u201cunder typical conditions\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The chip was designed with High Performance for Mobile applications (HPM) technology, which is meant for use in tablet computers and other mobile devices.<\/p>\n<p>The company claims the new chip is twice as fast as the equivalent chip based on the older 40 nanometre technology.
