{"id":498131,"date":"2023-06-29T12:12:41","date_gmt":"2023-06-29T10:12:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=498131"},"modified":"2023-06-29T12:17:37","modified_gmt":"2023-06-29T10:17:37","slug":"telegram-launching-instagram-like-stories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/498131-telegram-launching-instagram-like-stories.html","title":{"rendered":"Telegram launching Instagram-like stories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/durov\/213\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a><\/strong> that the company will add Instagram-like stories to the platform following numerous requests for such a feature.<\/p>\n<p>Durov said &#8220;Stories&#8221; has been one of the most requested features from Telegram users for several years, and despite being against the idea at first, it has now given in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;More than half of all feature requests that we receive are related to Stories,&#8221; said Durov.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Initially, we were against this since Stories are already everywhere. However, Telegram wouldn&#8217;t be Telegram if we didn&#8217;t listen to our users and didn&#8217;t innovate on existing formats.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So we will be launching Stories soon \u2014 in the Telegram way,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Telegram CEO listed several critical aspects of the Stories feature:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Privacy<\/strong> \u2014 Users can define who sees each of their stories, with options to share with everyone, only your contacts (with exceptions), a few specific contacts, or a list of Close Friends.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Compact UI<\/strong> \u2014 Durov said Stories would sit at the top of your chat list and will expand when selected.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flexibility<\/strong> \u2014 Telegram will make it easy to hide Stories posted by any contact by letting users move them to their &#8220;Hidden&#8221; list.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Captions<\/strong> \u2014 Telegram will let users add captions to their stories, in addition to allowing access to &#8220;dozens of powerful photo and video-editing tools&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dual Camera Support<\/strong> \u2014 Users will be able to post videos taken by the front and rear cameras simultaneously.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Optional Ephemerality<\/strong> \u2014 Users will be able to choose how long a story remains visible. Options include six, 12, 24, or 48 hours.
