{"id":500031,"date":"2023-07-12T17:16:12","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T15:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=500031"},"modified":"2023-07-12T17:18:29","modified_gmt":"2023-07-12T15:18:29","slug":"twitter-hit-by-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/500031-twitter-hit-by-problems.html","title":{"rendered":"Twitter hit by problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twitter suffered problems on Wednesday afternoon, with users reporting that tweets wouldn&#8217;t load when browsing profiles directly, and the notifications page and trends being broken.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/downdetector.co.za\/status\/twitter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Downdetector<\/a><\/strong> showed a spike in outage reports that began at around 16:15 on Wednesday, 12 July 2023, with most reports referring to problems with the website, feed, and server connection.<\/p>\n<p>Users have reported a broad range of issues, with some only seeing a &#8220;Welcome to Twitter!&#8221; message in their feed and others unable to view tweets when navigating to the poster&#8217;s profile.<\/p>\n<p>Others have reported receiving &#8220;Something went wrong. Try reloading.&#8221; and &#8220;Something went wrong, but don&#8217;t fret \u2014 it&#8217;s not your fault.&#8221; error messages when navigating the site.<\/p>\n<p>The platform&#8217;s Explore and Trends elements also appear problematic, as they only populate sporadically.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Twitter-downdetector2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-500037\" src=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Twitter-downdetector2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"477\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Twitter-downdetector2.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Twitter-downdetector2-600x239.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Twitter-downdetector2-800x318.jpg 800w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Twitter-downdetector2-768x305.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When visiting a Twitter profile directly, pinned Tweets still showed up, but any other Tweets from the user failed to load.<\/p>\n<p>Paradoxically, several people have taken to Twitter to complain about the outage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Twitter kinda broken for anyone else??&#8221; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hankgreen\/status\/1679138006815440906\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asked<\/a><\/strong> Complexly and DFTBA.com CEO Hank Green.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Lol, it told me this tweet didn\u2019t get tweeted but here it is!&#8221; he <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hankgreen\/status\/1679144253677613059\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted<\/a><\/strong> 25 minutes later.<\/p>\n<p>Responses to his Tweet include &#8220;It&#8217;s being weird for me too&#8221; and &#8220;Yup. Certifiably broken atm [at the moment].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ok glad my Twitter not the only one tweakin (sic),&#8221; another user posted.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Something-went-wrong-not-your-fault.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-500039\" src=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Something-went-wrong-not-your-fault.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"348\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Something-went-wrong-not-your-fault.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Something-went-wrong-not-your-fault-600x174.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Something-went-wrong-not-your-fault-800x232.jpg 800w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Something-went-wrong-not-your-fault-768x223.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The issues come at a tough time for Twitter, with Meta Platforms-owned Instagram having recently launched its Twitter rival Threads.<\/p>\n<p>Threads <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/499107-instagram-launches-twitter-rival-threads.html\">officially went live<\/a><\/strong> on Android and iOS on Thursday, 6 July 2023, and Twitter has already <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/499289-twitter-threatens-to-sue-meta-over-threads.html\">threatened to sue<\/a><\/strong> it for using the company&#8217;s intellectual property.<\/p>\n<p>The Twitter rival quickly <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/499523-threads-hits-100-million-users-in-four-days.html\">shot to 100 million subscribers<\/a><\/strong> within a few days.<\/p>\n<p>However, it should be noted that sign-ups should not be directly compared with monthly active users, as not all those who gave Threads a try will be converted into regular monthly users.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Now read: <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/499465-south-african-lawyers-use-chatgpt-to-argue-case-get-nailed-after-it-makes-up-fake-info.html\" rel=\"bookmark\">South African lawyers use ChatGPT to argue case \u2014 get nailed after it makes up fake info<\/a><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Users were getting a range of error messages and were unable to load Tweets when navigating to a specific profile.
