{"id":50049,"date":"2012-05-14T20:38:43","date_gmt":"2012-05-14T18:38:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=50049"},"modified":"2012-05-15T09:51:21","modified_gmt":"2012-05-15T07:51:21","slug":"apple-versus-samsung-case-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/gadgets\/50049-apple-versus-samsung-case-continue.html","title":{"rendered":"Apple versus Samsung case continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A U.S. appeals court ruled on Monday that <a title=\"Apple Inc\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342717-Apple-inc\">Apple Inc<\/a> could press its bid for an immediate block on the sale of some tablet computers made by <a title=\"Samsung Electronics Co Ltd\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/333656-Samsung\">Samsung Electronics Co Ltd<\/a> based on allegations of infringement of one patent.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said the judge in a district court in California had erred in deciding that Apple failed to show that it was likely to succeed on the merits.<\/p>\n<p>The dispute over that one patent is part of a larger legal proceeding in California. In mid-April, Apple and Samsung agreed that their chief executives would participate in settlement talks to try to resolve the dispute, according to a court filing.<\/p>\n<p>Apple sued Samsung in the United States last year, saying the South Korean company&#8217;s Galaxy line of mobile phones and tablets &#8220;slavishly&#8221; copies the iPhone and iPad.
