{"id":500841,"date":"2023-07-19T14:03:32","date_gmt":"2023-07-19T12:03:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=500841"},"modified":"2023-07-19T16:16:02","modified_gmt":"2023-07-19T14:16:02","slug":"cape-town-launches-app","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/500841-cape-town-launches-app.html","title":{"rendered":"Cape Town launches app"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Cape Town has launched a service-related municipal app that residents can use to view their load-shedding schedule, report a fault, access e-services, and keep up to date with the City&#8217;s news.<\/p>\n<p>The app is available on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/za\/app\/city-of-cape-town\/id1613339640\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apple App Store<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.esri.app9002d9bd7ea24a89ac679830537afe82\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Play Store<\/a><\/strong>, and the municipality said it would let residents participate in municipal decision-making on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Mayor Eddie Andrews said the decision to launch an all-encompassing app was made following the success of Cape Town&#8217;s load-shedding app pilot.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The load-shedding app was downloaded by 47,000 users on Android and 34,960 users on iOS,&#8221; said Andrews.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The application not only improved services to our customers but also pushed the City&#8217;s digital transformation goals by providing lessons which are being used wider in the City for the creation of future digital applications, including the new mobile app.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cape Town said the new app aligns with its vision of enhancing transparency and the efficiency of its operations.<\/p>\n<p>Features of the app include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Find a local councillor<\/li>\n<li>Have your say (residents participate in municipal decision-making)<\/li>\n<li>Fault reporting<\/li>\n<li>News feed<\/li>\n<li>City events schedules<\/li>\n<li>Planned outage and road closure information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m extremely excited about the progress we&#8217;ve made over the past year, the app will continuously be improved over time and we hope customers will reap the benefits of having a one-stop shop for all City info.
