{"id":50193,"date":"2012-05-16T08:46:32","date_gmt":"2012-05-16T06:46:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=50193"},"modified":"2012-05-16T11:33:06","modified_gmt":"2012-05-16T09:33:06","slug":"ipad-mini-gets-new-touch-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/50193-ipad-mini-gets-new-touch-technology.html","title":{"rendered":"iPad mini gets new touch technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/strong>The latest rumours surrounding the unconfirmed <a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342717-Apple-inc\" target=\"_blank\">Apple<\/a> iPad mini is that the device will be ultra thin, thanks to new touch screen technology.<\/p>\n<p>Digitimes cites anonymous &#8220;industry sources&#8221; in its latest report on the iPad mini, who claim that, in addition to being thinner, the new mini iPad&#8217;s screen and touch technology is cheaper than previous technologies, allowing Apple to cut costs.<\/p>\n<p>Cost-cutting is vital if the company wants to hit the rumoured $200 to $250 price-point and maintain margins on the device.<\/p>\n<p>The report also noted that Apple has contracted Nitto Denko to supply touch panels that use the company\u2019s \u201cG\/F2\u2033 thin-film technology.
