A number of Samsung<\/a> Galaxy S2 owners have reported problems with updating their devices to the latest version of Google\u2019s<\/a> Android<\/a> operating system.<\/p>\n

Samsung announced the availability of the upgrade to Android 4.0 \u201cIce Cream Sandwich\u201d yesterday, promising that it would be available on all South African devices today (18 May 2012).<\/p>\n

However, the uptake has been \u201castounding\u201d according to Samsung, who said that users may struggle to upgrade immediately due to the limited capacity on the firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) servers.<\/p>\n

Craige Fleischer<\/a>, director of mobile communications for Samsung Electronics SA, urged users to keep trying and said that updating using their PC software preferred over FOTA for now.<\/p>\n

“We also encourage users to upgrade via Kies, as not only is it easy and simple, but as it is done via the PC, it has unlimited server capacity and as such, during this initial period of high demand is the preferred download method,\u201d said Fleischer.<\/p>\n
