I haven\u2019t had this much fun with a console game in years. Buzz! Quiz TV (R850) takes all the fun of a pub quiz and packages it into a PlayStation 3 game complete with four electronic buzzers. The show is hosted by quizmaster Buzz, who, in his tasteless red suit and glasses, looks a bit like Elton John. But don\u2019t let that put you off if you\u2019re a trivia buff. This game was made for you.<\/p>\n
The game comes with more than 5 000 questions, with new question packs available for download from the online PlayStation Store. Hopefully there\u2019ll soon be an SA question pack.<\/p>\n
The best feature is the option for players to create their own quizzes and to upload these to the game\u2019s servers for others to play. Inevitably, many of these user-generated quizzes are awful, but a rating system means the best become available in \u201ctop-rated quizzes\u201d in the game\u2019s menus, making it easier to choose the better ones.<\/p>\n
There are already thousands of user-generated quizzes available, despite the game having been on sale for a few weeks only. My sole gripe is that these quizzes can be only eight questions long. I\u2019d have preferred longer user-made quizzes, like the ones that come packaged with the game. Nevertheless, I was surprised to find quite a few good quizzes about SA and Africa.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s also online play, allowing you to have \u201ccouch-to-couch\u201d battles with strangers, or you can play online with friends who also own the game. You can play by yourself, but what\u2019s the point? Buzz! Quiz TV is for trivia junkies young and old. Recommended.<\/p>\n
