The programme is funded from R42million set aside by the sports, arts and culture department to upgrade technology at public libraries.<\/p>\n
Through this programme a total of 152 computers will be handed over to 104 libraries throughout the province. <\/p>\n
This was said by sports, arts and culture MEC Joyce Mashamba during the handover of five computers at Letsitele on Friday.<\/p>\n
Mashamba said municipalities had been requested to decide how many libraries should benefit from the project.<\/p>\n
“I am confident people in this area will use the equipment to improve their knowledge, skills and experience of life outside the environment they are used to,” Mashamba said. <\/p>\n
She said pupils would be expected to use the technology to compete with their peers everywhere in the world.<\/p>\n
According to Letsitele librarian Marie van der Walt the equipment will benefit students from villages such as Mariveni, Bonn, Sedan and N’wamitwa.<\/p>\n
