{"id":5146,"date":"2008-09-08T21:37:00","date_gmt":"2008-09-08T19:37:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2008-09-08T21:37:00","modified_gmt":"2008-09-08T19:37:00","slug":"mbeki-on-ict","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/5146-mbeki-on-ict.html","title":{"rendered":"Mbeki on ICT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More work needs to be done to increase South Africa&#8217;s usage of information and communications technologies (ICTs), a meeting chaired by President Thabo Mbeki in Limpopo decided on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Mbeki chaired the 8th annual meeting of the Presidential International Advisory Council (PIAC) on Information Society and Development (ISAD) which began on Friday at Kapama Lodge in Hoedspruit.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting reviewed the PIAC&#8217;s work in the last eight years and expressed appreciation with the overall progress made in ICTs.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It was also noted that more work needs to be done to increase South Africa&#8217;s usage of ICTs.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Mogeotladi Mogano was appointed as the co-ordinator of the PIAC and a chief executive officer of the e-skills&#8217; council would be appointed within the next three months.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It was agreed that advisors will work with Trade and Invest South Africa to ensure that the country continues to improve investment in ICTs.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Advisors will form a group which will advise government on energy saving, particularly in the ICT sector.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;They (advisors) indicated their readiness to assist South Africa in maximising the economic benefits of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php?t=134700\"><strong>Mbeki on ICT &#8211; give your views<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More must be done to increase usage of ICTs<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5146","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-technology"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5146"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=5146"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5146\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=5146"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=5146"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=5146"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
