{"id":514759,"date":"2023-11-13T09:11:41","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T07:11:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=514759"},"modified":"2023-11-13T09:13:08","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T07:13:08","slug":"teraco-announces-big-data-centre-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cloud-hosting\/514759-teraco-announces-big-data-centre-upgrade.html","title":{"rendered":"Teraco announces big data centre upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Teraco has announced a 30 megawatt (MW) expansion of its CT2 hyperscale data centre facility in Brackenfell, Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>The company expects to complete the expansion project in early 2025, incorporating the latest environmentally sustainable cooling and water management designs.<\/p>\n<p>Teraco said CT2\u2019s expansion is being built in line with global hyperscale requirements.<\/p>\n<p>On completion, CT2 will comprise 73,000 square metres of building structure serviced by 90 megavolt-amperes of utility power supply.<\/p>\n<p>The expansion will double the number of data halls to 16, increasing the facility\u2019s deployment space to 18,000 square metres.<\/p>\n<p>CT2 Phase 2 will comprise four data halls of 5.3MW, two data halls of 3.1MW, and a further two data halls of 2.2MW.<\/p>\n<p>The entire facility will support an IT load of 50MW.<\/p>\n<p>Teraco CEO Jan Hnizdo said the new CT2 facility offers enterprises a scalable platform for IT infrastructure deployment while providing performance, reliability, stringent security, and the widest choice of carriers and network service providers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTeraco is committed to growing its capacity footprint across its core hubs,\u201d Hnizdo stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to invest significantly in the region\u2019s ICT infrastructure and have built out Africa\u2019s largest data centre platform,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe take pride in enabling open access interconnection and providing world-class data centre infrastructure for our clients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of Teraco\u2019s Cape Town Campus, CT2 is connected to CT1 with diverse fibre routes and provides enterprises with direct access to over 250 network providers, global cloud on-ramps, subsea cable systems, access to over 50 managed service providers, and direct peering at NAPAfrica.<\/p>\n<p>Clients deployed in either of these facilities can connect directly to AWS Direct Connect and Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute or via Teraco\u2019s Africa Cloud Exchange.<\/p>\n<p>CT2 is the latest expansion to Teraco\u2019s growing data centre platform.<\/p>\n<p>It increases the critical power load capacity at Teraco facilities to 185MW, which includes the Isando Campus JB1\/JB3\/JB5 (70MW), Bredell Campus JB2\/JB4 (64MW), Cape Town Campus CT1\/CT2 (50MW), and Durban (1MW).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Now read: <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cloud-hosting\/513273-how-much-it-costs-to-host-a-basic-website-in-south-africa-2.html\">How much it costs to host a basic website in South Africa<\/a><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Teraco has announced a major expansion project for its CT2 data centre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":23,"featured_media":514761,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[25],"tags":[90711,75364,35,29400,90713,90715,39683],"class_list":["post-514759","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-cloud-hosting","tag-aws-direct-connect","tag-digital-realty-trust","tag-headline","tag-jan-hnizdo","tag-microsoft-azure-expressroute","tag-teraco-africa-cloud-exchange","tag-teraco-data-environments"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/514759"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/23"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=514759"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/514759\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/514761"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=514759"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=514759"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=514759"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
