{"id":514979,"date":"2023-11-14T15:20:47","date_gmt":"2023-11-14T13:20:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=514979"},"modified":"2023-11-14T15:23:20","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T13:23:20","slug":"you-can-now-delete-threads-without-losing-your-instagram-account","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/514979-you-can-now-delete-threads-without-losing-your-instagram-account.html","title":{"rendered":"You can now delete Threads without losing your Instagram account"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Meta Platforms has added the ability for Threads users to delete their accounts without having to nuke their linked Instagram profiles.<\/p>\n<p>The change is one of two new features Instagram boss Adam Mosseri highlighted in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.threads.net\/@mosseri\/post\/Czmfy17SDfl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>update<\/strong><\/a> on Monday, 13 November 2023.<\/p>\n<p>To delete a Threads account separately from Instagram, users can navigate to their Threads Settings section, select &#8220;Account&#8221;, &#8220;Delete or Deactivate Profile&#8221;, and then hit &#8220;Delete profile&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Signing up for Threads will still require an Instagram account, as has been the case since its launch in July 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The screenshot below shows what the option will look like on the Threads iOS mobile app.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-514983 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Threads-account-deletion.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Threads-account-deletion.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Threads-account-deletion-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Threads-account-deletion-800x533.jpg 800w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Threads-account-deletion-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The second change Mosseri announced was that Threads now allowed users to stop their posts on the platform from being featured on Facebook and Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We heard feedback that you want more control over the experience,&#8221;
